Making Grief Safe For Work

Grief doesn’t clock out when we clock in for the day. Every year, employees navigate death, divorce, illness, caregiving, and other major life shifts and the impact shows up in their focus, morale, and retention. Most workplaces still treat grief as a brief leave of absence instead of an ongoing human reality that teams need to plan for.

20 million working-age adults in the US grieve a death each year.

Grieving employees cost US companies an estimated $125B annually.

About 50% of grieving employees quit their job within a year of their loss.

Go Beyond Bereavement Leave

Forward-thinking companies treat grief support as both compassionate and strategic. And they know it’s so much more than a bereavement policy. Plan for how loss shows up at work before it happens.
